On the Baltic coast one recent morning, I asked Tina Müller, a 39-year-old mother of two, why she felt the urge to get naked. She promptly returned the question: “Why do you feel the urge to wear a wet and clingy bathing suit?”
When you swim naked, she patiently explained: “It tingles on the skin. You feel every movement of the waves, every gust of wind directly on your skin. You feel your whole body. You feel alive, you feel free.”
So much so that when Mr. Adamski ran into a fellow nudist in the city center the other day he did not recognize him, because, “He was wearing clothes.”

Freedom... nakedness... this
aren't they all the same thing?

One thing leads to another. Before you know it, you have the strongest taffy-like idea of what?

That there's a man staring at you through the covers. That he's dead, and lived to thirty-two. That one of these days, you'll be staring at him, and in those imagined moments will be a gazillion points of light: A Life

Corina told me that when Ali Eslami came to give a talk (who is he? a researcher. this), he talked a bit about art. No thing is art if the artist doesn't consider how it will affect society ahead of time, he (supposedly) said. Isn't that an interesting opinion to have?*

So here I am, writing after exactly (1) day of work in which I finished my project and pretended to be busy so as to not make anyone look? I got coffee w/ Corina, talked about her research, hung on way too long asking Anthony about his loss functions, met the new recruits (klaas and fergal), tried to be helpful to francis (wasn't much help tho), and dove into AI part of the codebase like I got something to prove - which, I do, in fact.

I mean, I don't want to be a software engineer who doesn't want to be a software engineer even though he was hired to do that. I just need my work to be personally fulfilling, that's all. A very good way for that to happen is not to think too hard on what's fulfilling in the long term, and to just make something that is useful in the short term.

At night, I'm too tired to make Youtube videos, and so :') this is a shortcut. I haven't read the book yet, but I do suspect it's about not taking shortcuts. I suspect the sum of your love is about all the shortcuts you don't take...

* Veridis quo plays on repeat *

Will go read book now, to see if that's the case :)))

*most opinions are actually trash/quite funny. If/when you are asked which restaurant/coffeeshop to go to, always make a super fast decision, since you can justify it afterwards: "why that one?" "well, it looks bigger" "but is bigger always better??" "YES" "such an American"
